MQTT Panel

MQTT Panel

See what is happening on your MQTT brokers: topics, values, history, charts, publishing, and a broker built in.

Windows · macOS · Linux · open source, Apache 2.0

What it does

01

Explorer

  • Tree or table: thousands of topics stay fast to browse and search, with + # wildcards or a regular expression.
  • Every message shows its payload, with the changes from the previous one highlighted.
  • Sparklines next to each topic show how a value moved over its last messages.
  • A history list per topic, filterable by one field of a JSON payload.
  • JSON, text, binary, images, Sparkplug B, CBOR, MessagePack and Protobuf are decoded.
The topic tree and the topic table on the Explorer screen, with the payload of a selected topic, its diff and its chart.

02

Charts

  • A series is one topic plus one field of its payload.
  • Numbers are plotted as they are, numeric text is read as a number, true and false become 1 and 0.
  • Two axes when units differ, for example °C on the left and % on the right.
  • A dashboard holds several charts with a shared time range, pause and hover values.
A dashboard chart with three series from one topic.

03

Publish

  • A composer with topic, QoS, retain and the payload format (JSON, text, hex, Base64).
  • Templates for the messages you send often, with placeholders such as {room}.
  • Request and response on MQTT 5: set a response topic and see the reply next to the request.
  • Repeat a message every few seconds to simulate a sensor.
The Publish screen with templates, the composer and the list of sent messages with a reply.

04

Built-in broker

  • TCP, TLS, WebSocket and secure WebSocket listeners, switched on and off one by one.
  • Users with passwords, shared by all listeners.
  • Client certificates issued in one click, exported as PEM or PKCS#12.
  • A local certificate authority is created on first start.
  • Every change applies at once, without restarting the broker.
The built-in broker with its listeners, users, client certificates and connected clients.

05

Security

  • TLS with your own CA, client certificates and keys (PEM or PKCS#12).
  • A broker with a self-signed certificate can be trusted by pinning its certificate.
  • Passwords, keys and passphrases are stored encrypted on your computer, never in profile files.
  • Nothing leaves your computer: no telemetry, no account, no crash reports.
A connection profile with its security settings: CA, client certificate and key.

06

Command line

  • mqttpanel sub and mqttpanel pub, with the same profiles and secrets as the app.
  • mqttpanel broker starts the built-in broker without a window.
  • Text, JSON, NDJSON or raw output for scripts.
# watch a building, with a saved profile
$ mqttpanel sub --profile "Plant broker" -t 'building/f2/#'
# send one message
$ mqttpanel pub -h localhost -t demo/hello -m 'hi'
# run the broker on this computer
$ mqttpanel broker --bind 127.0.0.1

A closer look

Screens from the app, with demo data.

The Connect screen with three connected profiles and their tabs.
Every open connection gets a tab with its live figures; the cards show which profiles are connected.
A temperature topic with its history list and the change from the previous message.
Pick an earlier message of a topic: the payload shows what changed from the one before.
The Explorer as a table of topics.
The same topics as a flat table, sortable by any column.
The Explorer in dark mode.
Follows the system appearance, light or dark.

Your data stays yours
